From attending fundraising drives and awards nights to spreading Christmas joy through food donations, our Thiess team in Australia has been busy during December and January supporting local initiatives in the communities where we live and work.

Let’s take a look at the highlights:  

New South Wales  

Mount Arthur South Christmas donation drive

Our Thiess team at Mount Arthur South were busy in the lead up to Christmas, donating much needed food items that helped over 260 underprivileged families. The team was joined by the State Member for the Upper Hunter, Dave Layzell, and Indigenous businesses Balckrock Industries and Blackroo Community Indigenous Corporation. Well done team!

Mt Owen Fundraising Drives

Our Mount Owen team have been busy fundraising for local charities OzHarvest and Lifeline Mental Health. Hunter Valley were the recipients of $5,000 worth of employee raffle tickets which were distributed across the two charities.  

Western Australia  

Rocky’s Reward – Unveiling the Indigenous Mural

Drill and Blast Specialist, Scott Granville attended the Leinster Community School’s unveiling event of the Tjiwarl (Traditional Owners) mural that the Rocky’s Reward team sponsored as a gift to the local community. The Tjiwarl artists presented the dreamtime story that the mural depicts, and the primary school students shared a musical interpretation performance based on the story.  

Queensland  

Curragh North - Comet State School Awards Night

Project Manager Daniel Sawtell and F&A Superintendent Kallina Gilmore presented students with the ‘Thiess Academic Award’. Thiess provided a platter for the event where school teachers, parents and students enjoyed an afternoon of presentations. 

Dysart State School  

Year 6 graduation

Our Lake Vermont team, in collaboration with Cater Care, sponsored the Dysart State School’s Year 6 Graduation. Emma Manning, Human Resources Manager, presented the school with catering for the celebration held in December.  

Sports Award Presentation

Our Lake Vermont team sponsored and presented the Sportsperson of the Year Award at the Dysart State School’s Award Presentation held in December.  

Dysart Santa Run

Our team at Lake Vermont also sponsored the Dysart Santa Run, organised by Dysart Emergency Services and local community members. The Santa Run was followed by the Dysart Community Carols by Candlelight and Twilight Markets. In collaboration with Cater Care, the team donated items for a sausage sizzle to raise funds for the Dysart Play Group.
