From supporting local charities, to welcoming our new Sister’s in Mining cohort, our Australia teams have been busy supporting community initiatives and events over the past two months.

Here are some of the highlights:

Bullying. No Way! Day – Lake Vermont
Our Lake Vermont team collaborated with Cater Care to donate burgers for Bullying No Way Day on Friday 18 March – the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence Over 200 students and teachers took part to raise awareness about bullying and show support for students who may be experiencing it.

Dysart Markets
Our Lake Vermont team set up a Thiess tent at the Dysart Markets in March and joined with Cater Care to donate sausages and buns to raise funds for ‘Real Mates Talk’ – a men's campaign that aims to prevent suicide attempts and deaths of men in our community by supporting them to connect with others and live well.

Working Bee
With support from Cater Care, our team donated catering for the C&K Dysart Kindergarten to assist with their ‘Working Bee’ held on Sunday 27 March. Around 20 volunteers enjoyed morning tea and lunch as they assisted on the day.

Sister’s in Mining
We onboarded 12 women into Sisters In Mining Program this intake. Sisters in Mining is a12-month traineeship targeted at Indigenous females. Lake Vermont welcomed the new Sister's in Mining by hosting the 7-day induction program, which was a great success.

QCoal Collinsville State High School Futures Anything Project
Thiess funded the Futures Anything Program which commenced at Collinsville State High School. As part of the day, students were asked how they could pitch an innovative, scalable, sustainable solution that makes the world a better place. Students were then required to create a business plan and present it to community leaders.

QCoal Pink Stumps event
Thiess was a bronze sponsor at this year’s Pink Stumps Day hosted at the Bowen Cricket Club. Over 300 ladies attended the event to raise over $10,000 for the McGrath Foundation.

QCoal Northern Hub trainee
A trainee from Collinsville State High School started her Certificate 3 in business administration with the HSET team over a two-year period.

Mailrun Charity Bike Ride
Our Mount Owen team pedalled their way through the annual charity bike riding event, where riders completed 100km, 65km 40km or 20km courses. Our Thiess team sponsored the event and also manned the drinks stand to support the riders and keep them hydrated. The charity event supports the Singleton Family Support Scheme – an organisation that offers a range of services and programs to help families in need.
