Spencer brings almost 30 years’ experience across the mining, construction, technology and services industry.
He joined Thiess in 2007 and has held several senior operational and leadership positions, including Group Executive Australia East, Group Executive Assets, Executive General Manager Australia West, Executive General Manager Asia and Africa, Executive Chairman of the Majwe Mining Joint Venture in Africa, and General Manager Mining Western Australia and South Australia where he was instrumental in driving the expansion of Thiess’ underground operations.Spencer’s strong and collaborative leadership style promotes project and operational management excellence. He is a strong advocate for developing people, and drives best-for-business outcomes through strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Spencer has also served in the Royal Australian Navy as a submariner. He holds a certificate of Applied Science from the Australian Navy.
